Designer sneakers are becoming a large part of sneaker culture in todays society. Different designers such as Balenciaga, Mason Margiela, Dior, and Gucci are creating sneakers to appeal to the upper class market. The problem with these sneakers is that a lot of them are very similar to sneakers produced by Nike, Adidas, and Converse at almost quadruple the prices. An example would be Gucci leather sneakers and the Adidas Superstar. The Gucci sneaker is based off the Superstar and is almost 500 dollars compared to the Superstars 80 dollar price tag. Alexander McQueen has another leather sneaker which has a resemblance to Adidas Stan Smith Sneaker. Alexander McQueen's sneaker boasts a 500 dollar price tag, while Adidas has a 90 dollar price tag. This raises the question, what makes these sneakers different? To answer that, mostly nothing separates them, the designer sneakers are just aimed at a different target audience. Wether or not you should buy them, its up to your personal preference and wallet size.
