Sneakers nowadays are expensive, and with the growth of the sneaker culture I learned that prices will continue to rise. I learned through the article today the biggest influencers of the shoe industry aren't athletes anymore, but instead it is celebrities. The author explains it in what he calls the "Kanye effect" where you don't have to be an athlete anymore to wear certain shoes. The author also explained this effect is so big because entertainers such as Kanye West are able to attract a wider audience rather than a specific sport. To summarize this article, we can conclude that prices will continue to rise as more celebrities with different styles come into the scene.

"Today, some of the biggest shoe releases are from entertainers, that's just really made sneaker culture more mass-friendly"
I believe the points the author made are true and I can relate to them completely. For example, Bad Bunny released a pair of Crocs, and the world went crazy for them. The day after they sold out, you could only buy them if you were willing to cough up 400 dollars for the resale price. The sneaker industry is heavily influenced by celebrities due to the fact that they are more relatable than athletes.
